Author Interview Questions

How long have you been a published author?

Four Years

What inspired you to start writing, and how did you find your niche in African American romance and women’s fiction?

My daughter inspired me to start writing. I wanted to set an example for her and let her know she can do anything she sets her mind to.

Can you share a bit about your writing process? Do you have any rituals or habits that help you stay productive?

A candle and a big glass of wine are always a part of my creative process. I also have a few writing playlists that I like to listen to while I write.

What challenges have you faced in the publishing industry, and how have you overcome them?

The most challenging part of writing is promoting and connecting with the audience. As an introvert, it takes a lot to step out of my bubble, but knowing that people genuinely enjoy the stories and characters that come from my head makes it easier to overcome.

How has your experience been working with Cole Hart Signature?

It’s been great working with CHS. Cole kicked me out of my comfort zone and because of that I’ve been able to push myself and create stories I used to be too scared to write.

Is Cole Hart a great coach and mentor, and if so, what has he done for you to grow your finance and help you provide for you and your kids?

Cole Hart is a brilliant coach and mentor. Theres a method to his madness. I came to the team wanting to grow as an author and wanting to grow my income and I’ve been able to do both with his guidance.

Can you tell us about a particularly memorable moment or milestone in your writing career?

My most memorable moment with CHS was getting my first #1 orange banner. I wasn’t expecting it and it felt good for my work to be acknowledged on that level.

How do you connect with your readers, and what feedback have you received that has been particularly meaningful to you?

I connect with my readers through my reading group, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. I appreciate the feedback and encouragement I get within the CHS team. I watch how they market and the gems they give, and I adapt it to my brand.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to break into the genre?

Be you. It may or may not take you a while to find your readers, but through it all, don’t lose your voice or the edge that makes you, you.

What upcoming projects or books can your readers look forward to?

I have a release coming up soon and it’ll be a two-part series. It’s my take on a Cinderella story/marriage of convenience.
